“Awaken” is a conceptual album inspired by encountering my Other Self. I wouldn’t recommend this experience to anyone. It discusses themes of both Ego Death, trust in God, as well as fears and doubts. Writing these lyrics, especially “Twin Flame,” helped me survive this difficult period. This text is an expression of my feelings – grief, sadness, madness, and a certain hope. It was inspired (ironically!) by Dream Theater’s 12 Step Suite. The first part of the suite – “The Glass Prison” – accompanied me after the disappearance of My Other Self. The lyrics for “Awaken” were mostly written in Gdańsk – thanks to this, I can officially announce myself as a Tri-City artist.
It’s difficult for me to write the story of an album that is still in production. “Awaken,” unlike “New World Order” or “Witchcraft,” is an open story… the tale has not yet been written… the emotions that accompanied me during the writing of this album are still very fresh. The transformations within me have not yet ended… I am already a completely different person, but I am not a walking meditation. Not yet.
I definitely want to indulge in musical madness here with “Twin Flame.” It will be my longest track yet, and I hope it will appeal to prog fans as well as people who have gone through (or are going through) this experience. While creating this album, I did a profound soul-searching and realized that the past cannot poison my life anymore. I decided to forgive and mend relationships in my life – thus “Prodigal Child” was born.
“40 Days on the Desert” is about trusting in God when life puts us through the worst trials. The title refers to the 40 days Jesus Christ spent in the desert, being tempted by Satan. Lyrics such as “Die Before You Die” and “Ego Death” refer to freeing oneself from the small, false, loud usurper that makes us forget that we are all Children of God – pure Light and Love. “7 Demons” is about reconciling with emotions that, like Satan’s serpents, try to take control over us and become us.
